“Breathless” might be a more appropriate title for this very different coming-of-age tale. It’s different not because it deals with growing up in a unique way, but because it’s about much more than young boys becoming young men. One persistent theme that permeates the narrative is danger. All the main characters court it, constantly pushing themselves perilously close to the limit.
The story is set mostly around Angelus, a seaside town in Western Australia. The main character, the book’s narrator, is thirteen-year-old Bruce Pike, known as Pikelet. His best friend is fourteen-year-old Loonie. They first meet at a popular swimming spot on the river, where Loonie is enacting a scene that’s a forewarning of things to come. When Pikelet arrives, there is panic. Loonie, who was swimming, has suddenly disappeared. The panicking day-trippers and tourists all fear he has drowned. In fact, he’s sitting on the riverbed, highly amused, holding his breath and clutching onto weeds. Though this prank is very small fry compared to what’s to come, it’s a foretaste of Loonie’s character and the direction of the story.

Tony Blair’s most recent revelation of his political life comes out as a good read, providing real life incidents and insights into his political development towards the major election win of 1997. This was a highly awaited memoir from Tony Blair who stands out in the global arena as a very dynamic statesman and leader who brought United Kingdom to the fore under the Labour government. The book offers readers a “from-the-horses-mouth” version of Blair’s movement in politics leading up to the surprising Labour Party win and his becoming the Prime Minister. This book speaks a lot of his legacy before the end of 18 years of the Conservative government rule.
The book covers his journey which were earmarked with lots of ups and downs and covers a lot of his speeches, various letters to intra and inter government people and large number of articles written on his trials and triumphs over a period of 20 years (from early 1980 to 2004, which is when the book was actually published). Blair has been very candid in some parts and cryptic in others. His candidness comes out specially to describe his hate relationship with Gordon Brown in one episode of how Brown once tried to blackmail him with a threat of an investigation on a peerage deal if Blair did not forego his plans for bringing a reform in the pension act. This part reveals what is called the nasty side of UK politics.

The laws of probability are confusing and highly technological especially when working with lotto numbers. Pictures of this professor Larry Blair who wrote the Lotto Black Book show him diligently on the job on the solution to his black book and the array of computers it took to solve it. At last he was successful and he has won the lottery significant awards at least five times — truly a testament that he does have the secrets of winning.
Although he has enjoyed his winnings a black cloud did shroud the joy once kidnappers who desperately desired his lottery success secrets shot him in the foot. The fact that this very negative disturbance happened to him is why he wishes to share his knowledge with others. He hopes that by joint he will have thwarted any further thoughts of kidnapping to force him to give out his previously highly guarded secret!
Also he realizes that the joint of the secret certainly won’t put a stop to his own winnings if he finds that he wishes additional moneys. Finally when he was being held against his will he told God that he would distribute the secret so that others could brand money from the Lotto if God would grant him freedom from them. He got away and even though the process took him precious years to evolve and perfect the Lotto Black Book he has kept his pledge to share his astonishing breakthrough.
Gambling also intrigued Gallileo a absolute learned man who lived in the 17th century and the laws of probability were first introduced by him. Since then infinite others have embellished on his theories. nevertheless still today most scientists will tell you that probability has not yet been thoroughly explained. What Larry Blair has created with his book is therefore the very next step in clarifying probability laws.

In his second book in the Millennium series, it is absolutely apparent that Stieg is inspired by the crime and murder mystery writers of the world. The pace of this book though not as fast as the first one (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), it does give the normal ups and downs of any racy detective novel by the likes of Enid Blyton, Agatha Christie and Sue Grafton. There are references of these authors and many more in several parts and gives the same feeling as the books in their genre.
As a sequel to the previous book, this one also published posthumously, the author dives deeper into the life of the protagonist. We see a lot of investigative journalism from the Mikeal, who in this novel is more prominent as he is trying to help his detective friend Lisbeth from imminent capture, which is where the story takes off from the sexual exploitation and violence theme of the previous book. There are issues in the society which have been dealt with in this novel too. Sometimes one is left wondering as if these were true stories blended into a fictional tale of crusaders for the society.
